Exploration and Mining in Cote d’Ivoire: Awale Hits Gold at the Charger Zone
Awale Resources, a noteworthy junior exploration company, recently made significant strides in its Odienne project in Cote d’Ivoire, West Africa. A recent report from the company shares findings of remarkable gold intersections from the Charger prospect. The best intersection reported was 14.7 grams per tonne (g/t) of gold over 59 meters from the hole OEDD007.
Charger prospect is part of the Odienne project, which comprises three permits: Bondoukou, Abengourou, and Odienne. The project also includes the Scorpion-Tarantula and Empire Main prospects. The discovery of gold in Charger opens up many possibilities for future exploration and mining in this region.
Awale Resources initiated its drill campaign at the Charger prospect by testing under trenches where historic and contemporary rock chip sampling returned 42 grams per tonne (g/t) of gold. The results confirmed high-grade gold intersections and increasing strike length, which have triggered further investigations.
The drill hole OEDD007, which resulted in the highest gold intersection, is positioned centrally in the mineralised zone. It was drilled at -60 degrees towards 060 degrees azimuth, to the northwest of previous mineralised auger holes, and indicated continuity of the mineralization towards the southwest.
Furthermore, the OEDD007 hole also revealed a new high-grade zone of 14.7 g/t gold over 59 metres from 12 metres, including 194 g/t gold over 3 metres. This is vital to the Charger area because these findings broaden the range of potential mining targets and expand the scope of the mineralized zone.
The Charger area exhibits similarity to the Empire Main prospect. In fact, trends of artisanal workings and gold-in-soil anomalies at Charger are on similar orientations to the interpreted structural corridor that hosts Empire Main. This opens up a new possibility of exploration in charger with more potential to hit high-grade intersections in the future.
Moreover, Awale also confirmed that trenching results from Empire Main returned 13.2 g/t gold over 16 meters, which reaffirm the potential of this area as a future gold producer.
Awale’s exploration strategy has been thorough, effective, and fast-paced. Their focus is directly on region-scale and district-scale gold targets. They have demonstrated professional agility and effective interpretational skills in revealing and understanding the potential of these gold intersections.
As the drilling continues, these results have pushed the Company’s exploration team to accelerate their twin focuses. Firstly, they continue the RC drilling along the northern part of Empire Main to investigate the Charger target for additional high-grade shoots in the strike extension. Simultaneously, diamond drilling at the Empire Main zone will ensure that all vital information about the mineralized characteristics continues to be gathered.
In summary, Awale Resources’ diligent exploration pursuits in the Odienne project, especially within the Charger zone, have led to promising discoveries. The impressive gold intersections have set a stage for more significant exploration work, which could potentially unlock more value from these mining prospects. With continuous and strategic efforts, the Company continues to contribute to the existing gold mining ventures in
