CardieX, a global health technology company, has made a groundbreaking announcement. It has been published in BioMed Central, an esteemed peer-reviewed journal, about their innovative non-invasive finger tip technology, Photoplethysmography (PPG), and the success of its validation study for Central Aortic Pressure (CAP) waveform analysis.
A collaboration between renowned institutions produced the pivotal study, namely the University of Sydney, Repatriation General Hospital, University of South Australia, Royal Adelaide Hospital, and Flinders University. Their combined efforts were focused on probing the potential of PPG technology application in the central aortic pressure waveform analysis.
PPG technology is a simple, economical, and non-invasive technique involving a pulse oximeter. It uses light to measure the volume change in the microvascular bed of tissue. The meticulous validation study involved 110 patients, comprising healthy individuals, patients with cardiovascular disease, and those diagnosed with hypertension. The comparison between PPG and invasive aortic pressure waveforms performed via cardiac catheterization revealed that PPG is remarkably accurate.
