Avrupa Minerals, standing out among its peers for its innovative exploration strategies, recently reported compelling results from the initial drilling program at the Sesmarias target, part of the Alvalade Project located in the Iberian Pyrite Belt. The Iberian Pyrite Belt, stretching through southern Portugal into Spain, is well known for its rich polymetallic Volcanogenic Massive Sulphide (VMS) mineralization offerings.
Within the highly prospective Sesmarias target, polymetallic VMS mineralization was intersected. This significant discovery comes after Avrupa Minerals commenced a drilling project estimated at 7,400 meters of diamond drilling in February of 2021. Such a development gives credence to Avrupa’s approach of adopting a flexible, project generator model, and firmly navigating global mineral potential by focusing on overlooked and underfinanced areas.
Firstly, the drilling highlights from Sesmarias comprise an intersection of 28.95 meters with 1.81% copper, 2.57% lead, 4.38% zinc, 75.27 g/t silver, and 0.13 g/t gold (Hole SES023). Furthermore, it provided an intersection of 10.85 meters with 1.38% copper, 0.92% lead, 3.10% zinc, 64.80 g/t silver, and 0.10 g/t gold (Hole SES024).
These results indicate significant extents of the 10 Lens, one of the significant mineralized lenses in the Sesmarias area, pointing to more than 600 meters in strike length and almost 300 meters down-dip. The 10 Lens has established mineral continuity along strike and down-dip within the Sesmarias target.
Besides the 10 Lens, other identified lenses in the area (8 Lens and 2 Lens) have also indicated mineral-bearing capabilities, which contributes to Sesmarias’ allure. The 8 Lens shows 450 meters strike length and the 2 Lens shows 300 meters strike length, both providing additional scopes of mineralization.
Importantly, Avrupa’s successful exploration efforts underline the viability of the project generator model within the mining sector. Aimed at reducing financial and operational risk, the model allows Avrupa to identify, acquire, and advance projects before inviting partners to invest their capital for further development and considerable drill testing.
This successful mineral intersection at Sesmarias forms part of a wider narrative of untapped mineral potential within under-explored regions. By strategically concentrating on overlooked territories, like the Iberian Pyrite Belt, Avrupa Minerals presents itself as a pioneer in contemporary mineral exploration.
While still in the early stages, the scale of the findings from Sesmarias raises optimism about future exploratory developments within the sector, while anticipating the potential impact of these mineral resources on global industry. It clearly communicates that the resources hidden within our planet are far from fully discovered and underscore the importance of continuous exploration. As the mining industry advances, the results yielded by exploratory study investments point firmly towards a rich, untapped mineral potential.
